A MAJOR Yorkshire publisher has opened a new office next to Harvard Business School.

Emerald Group Publishing, which produces business and management research, has taken on 10 staff in the branch and they will develop the US market further.

Emerald, based in Bingley, currently produces more than 700 journals and books as well as
management research that can be accessed online and is currently subscribed to by more than 3,000 university libraries, businesses and governments world- wide.

Sales director Bill Russell said: "The opening of this office is a significant development in our ongoing expansion programme and will enable us to continue to service and build upon our client base throughout the US, Canada, South America and the Caribbean.

"We are also expanding our network of editors and authors in this part of the world and this office will play a fundamental role in ensuring its success.

"After considering various locations throughout North America, we chose Harvard Square because of its historic associations with business education and publishing in the US."

Emerald, established in 1967, has 208 staff in Bingley as well as business managers in Europe, Asia, Africa, China, India and Australia.
