A light installation by the Elders Group of the Pyramid of Arts outside Oxford Place Methodist Church in Leeds as part of one of the country's leading public arts events, Light Night Leeds, which began at dusk last night and ran into the early hours of the morning.
Events included a performance from Opera North in Leeds Central Library, while Northern Ballet Theatre and Phoenix Dance provide free ballet lessons on City Square, and The Buglers of the 3rd Battalion, The Rifles, shattered the silence on Victoria Gardens..
Light Night is organised by the Arts and Regeneration Unit at Leeds Council. It is based on the model of events in Paris and Toronto where – for one night each year – city centre venues that are normally closed at night open up late to host a range of events designed to celebrate the wealth of creative and cultural activity.
