Next Cardiff City manager: Ex-Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Leeds United and Huddersfield Town men made early favourites for Championship vacancy

Cardiff City say their search for a new manager has already begun following the dismissal of Mark Hudson on Saturday night.

Hudson was relieved of his duties following a 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic which left the Bluebirds just one place above the Championship relegation zone. Dean Whitehead is set to take on the role of interim boss as Cardiff prepare for a third round FA Cup replay against Leeds United.

“At this time Dean Whitehead will take on the responsibility of interim first-team manager. Tom Ramasut will remain as assistant manager and will be supported by goalkeeping coach Graham Stack.

“The club’s search for a new permanent manager will begin immediately.”

Chris Wilder and Dean Smith are the early favourites to replace Hudson, having being sacked by Middlesbrough and Norwich City earlier this campaign. Neil Warnock is also among the leading names with the bookmakers.
