Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and Middlesbrough players dominate Team of the Week
A good weekend for Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and Middlesbrough, for sure. Here’s our line-up in a 3-5-2 formation.
Goalkeeper
Joe Wildsmith (Sheffield Wednesday)
Made a majestic first-half save to deny Nathan Baker and produced an accomplished, commanding display at Ashton Gate on a stand-out Sunday lunch-time for the Owls.
Defence
Ben White (Leeds United)

Dominic Iorfa (Sheffield Wednesday)
Imperious at the back and continued his generally excellent campaign. Stood tall throughout against Bristol City.
Mads Andersen (Barnsley)
The Dane’s mini-renaissance continued with a sound and disciplined performance against Millwall. Good to see.
Midfield
Djed Spence (Middlesbrough)
Took his chances with both hands after being recalled by Neil Warnock and showed drive and energy going forward and diligence in his defensive duties.
Pablo Hernandez (Leeds United)

Barry Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday)
Ran the show in the engine room and delivered a masterful display full of poise and nous. Showed leadership.
Leo Da Silva Lopes (Hull City)
A vibrant force in the first half as the Tigers stunned Birmingham and produced an assist for James Scott’s goal. Brought much more to the table.
Patrick Roberts (Middlesbrough)
Produced a fine delivery for Boro’s opener at Stoke and posed plenty of problems for the Potters. Showed verve and quality.

Ashley Fletcher (Middlesbrough)
Another who took his chance after being restored to the starting line-up by Warnock.
Scored a smart opener - his 11th of the season - and worked well in tandem with Britt Assombalonga.
Manager
Garry Monk (Sheffield Wednesday)
Oversaw a much-needed victory at Bristol City, only the Owls’ third in the league since December.
