York City caretaker-manager is former Doncaster Rovers left-back Tim Ryan
The Minstermen are hoping to replace sacked manager John Askey before the end of November, although former players Jonathan Greening and Richard Cresswell have already ruled themselves out.

Former Doncaster Rovers left-back Ryan, who joined as youth team manager in 2018, will now take the reins, assisted by Scott Barrow.
Before moving into youth football with first Doncaster, then York, Ryan was an assistant manager at Stalybridge Celtic, Chester City and Buxton.

Hide AdBarrow suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the promotion play-off win over Boston United which Askey oversaw and his contract expired shortly afterwards.
Greening, who Manchester United signed from York in 1996 and who returned in 2015 as a player and academy coach, is manager of his hometown club Scarborough Athletic, third in Conference North.
Hours after Askey's sacking he tweeted "why would I go to a club that treats a well respected manager like JA the way York City have"?
Like Greening, Cresswell was high in the bookmaker's odds before tweeting "I have absolutely no interest in the York City job. I'm a supporter and love going to the games with my kids."
